Surprise Billing and Transparency Mandates: What They Might Mean for Providers
“Surprise billing” refers to an unexpected charge that a patient receives after being treated by an out-of-network health care provider. At least 25 states have implemented measures to address surprise billing, and both chambers of Congress are now actively pursuing a legislative fix at the federal level.
The White House issued an executive order directing the Department of Health and Human Services to require hospitals to post standard charge information to the public, including information about their negotiated rates. Therefore, providers are now anticipating proposed federal rules about what these “transparency” requirements might actually entail. Both of these measures have the potential to significantly impact providers, reimbursement and patient experience. In this webinar, we will explore the current status of federal and state law, what may be coming next and what it all means for health care providers.
In this webinar, Hall Render attorneys Laetitia Cheltenham, Andrew Coats, Michael Greer, Abby Kaericher, Lisa Lucido and Amy Mackin will discuss surprise billing and transparency mandates. Health care providers and their in-house counsel, chief financial officers, finance departments and managed care departments will want to consider attending this informative program.
