Major Hospital Associations Provide Recommendations to HHS on Distribution of Stimulus Funds

  • In a letter sent to HHS Secretary Alex Azar, the American Hospital Association (“AHA”) outlined its recommendations for disbursement of the $100 billion allocated for health care providers by the CARES Act, which includes call for immediate direct payments to hospitals through Medicare Administrative Contractors.
  • The Federation of American Hospitals also submitted a letter outlining its principles and recommendations for distributing the resources allocated in the CARES Act.

DOL Issues Temporary Rule on New Paid Sick Leave and Expanded FMLA Implementation

  • The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division posted a temporary rule issuing regulations pursuant to new provisions in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (second stimulus bill).

From the FDA

  • The FDA released a Medical Devices and COVID-19 Pandemic resource page. FDA also launched a “Device Advice: Comprehensive Regulatory Assistance” page.
  • The FDA announced “Updated Information for Human Cell, Tissue, or Cellular or Tissue-based Product (“HCT/P”) Establishments Regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic”.

Congressional Outlook

  • The House and Senate remain in recess until at least April 20.
  • Preliminary discussions about a fourth stimulus bill continue.
