Congressional Outlook
- The Senate held a proforma session today without taking any action on providing an interim funding bill. Republicans continue to advocate for only providing an additional $250 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program while Democrats want that and $250 billion more for hospitals ($100 billion) and state and local governments ($150 billion).
- The Senate holds another proforma session on Thursday, which is now the earliest that Congress can act to provide any additional funding.
CMS Issues Guidance on Expanded Coverage for Essential COVID-19 Diagnostic Services
- CMS, along with Departments of Labor and Treasury, issued guidance to ensure private health insurance coverage of COVID-19 diagnostic services and other related services, such as antibody testing, at no cost.
CMS Issues Long-Term Care Facility Transfer Scenarios
- CMS issued a memorandum on long-term care facility transfer scenarios during the COVID-19 public emergency.
From the FDA
- The FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization to decontaminate N95 respirators.
- The FDA published product-specific guidances to support generic drug development for chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate, given the anticipated increase in demand for these drugs.
- The FDA issued a consumer update: How You Can Make a Difference During the Coronavirus Pandemic.
