CMS Issues Additional COVID-19 Waivers and Rule Changes

  • CMS announced additional regulatory waivers and rule changes to expand telehealth in Medicare, hospital capacity, health care workforce and diagnostic testing for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.

From the FDA

  • The FDA issued a  ventilator emergency use authorization (EUA) for a ventilator developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, which is tailored to treat patients with COVID-19.
  • The FDA issued guidance highlighting flexibility under the Drug Supply Chain Security Act.

CMS Announces Independent Commission on Nursing Home Quality Safety

  • CMS announced a new independent Commission that will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the nursing home response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Federal Reserve Expands Main Street Lending Program Scope and Eligibility

  • The Federal Reserve Board expanded eligibility and scope for the Main Street Lending Program. Changes to the Main Street lending program include eligibility for businesses with up to 15,000 employees or $5 billion in annual revenue and reducing the minimum loan size for two of the program’s loan options to $500,000. 

HHS Awards $20 Million for Telehealth Access and Infrastructure

  • The Health Resources and Services Administration awarded $20 million to increase telehealth access and infrastructure, focusing on increasing capability, capacity, access to telehealth and assisting providers with cross-state licensure.

Congressional Outlook

  • The Senate resumes its work on Monday while the House remains in recess as its leadership determines when to gavel back into session. There are no votes on coronavirus-related legislation expected next week.
