From the FDA
- The FDA authorized the first serology, or antibody, test where the results of a new independent validation effort by the U.S. Government provided the scientific evidence used to support the authorization.
- The FDA released a new blog, Insight into FDA’s Revised Policy on Antibody Tests: Prioritizing Access and Accuracy, which explains today’s update to a policy on antibody tests for COVID-19.
SBA Issues Additional Guidance on PPP
- The Small Business Administration issued additional guidance clarifying certain implementations of the Paycheck Protection Program, including specific answers for hospitals.
Sen. Braun Introduces Safeguarding Small Business Act Focusing on PPP
- The Safeguarding Small Business Act, authored by Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN), makes a technical correction to the CARES Act to remove all tax liability associated with loan forgiveness under the Paycheck Protection Program. The bill is expected to be introduced tonight. A one-page summary can be found here.
DOL Issues New Guidance
- The Department of Labor issued additional guidance regarding Title II, Subtitle A of the CARES Act. This guidance concerns 100 percent federal reimbursement of certain state Short-Term Compensation (“STC”) payments, as well as other changes to STC programs.
Congressional Outlook
- The Senate resumed its session today while the House remains in recess until a date that has yet to be determined. There are no scheduled votes on coronavirus-related legislation.
