CMS Uploads New Medicare 1135 Waiver Document
- CMS issued a new document on Medicare 1135 Waivers: COVID-19 Regulations & Waivers To Enable Health System Expansion (PDF).
AHA Releases New Report on Financial Impact to Hospitals and Health Systems
- The American Hospital Association released a new report on “Hospitals and Health Systems Face Unprecedented Financial Pressures Due to COVID-19.”
OCR Issues Guidance on Covered Health Care Providers and Restrictions on Media Access to Protected Health Information
- Today, the HHS Office for Civil Rights issued additional guidance reminding covered health care providers that HIPAA does not permit them to give media and film crews access to facilities where patients’ protected health information will be accessible without the patients’ prior authorization.
Congressional Outlook
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told her caucus today that Democrats should plan on taking the lead when it comes to drafting the next coronavirus relief bill. This position was echoed in a memo written by House Appropriations Chairwoman Nita Lowey (D-NY) that notes House Democrats will release their latest proposal “in the coming days.”
- The Senate was in session today while the House remains in recess until a date that has yet to be determined. There were no votes on coronavirus-related legislation.
