USCIS announced that tomorrow, March 8, 2013, they will release a new Form I-9.  Employers must complete Form I-9 for employees hired after November 6, 1986 to verify the identity and employment eligibility of employees.  USCIS stated that the newly revised Form I-9 will include additional data fields, improved instructions and a new layout that will expand the form to two pages.  Employers should begin using the new Form I-9 immediately.  There will be a 60-day grace period during which employers can transition to the new form, but after that period, employers may be subject to penalties for using other versions.

Stay tuned for additional information on the new Form I-9!  The link to the forms has not yet been issued by the government, but Hall Render will provide the link when it has been published.
