- A recent report from CBRE indicated that construction input prices are up 42.5% from March 2020 to March 2022. CBRE expects output prices (for construction work) to rise similarly in the next 6-9 months.
- Despite potential price pressures, hospital construction is up, with 45.2 million square feet of new construction in progress in the second quarter of 2022 (as compared with 37.4 million square feet in Q2 2021 and 28.7 million square feet in Q2 2020). ASHE’s Energy to Care initiative encourages hospitals to save on energy costs and reallocate those dollars to patient care, per ASHE.
- In a similar vein, Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health and Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY also won environmental excellence awards for innovation and leadership toward sustainability goals, per WPSD.
- Senior living occupancy is up for four consecutive quarters, and the consensus among investors is that occupancies will continue to rise by at least another 2.5 percentage points (along with rising cap rates) over the next 12 months, per an investor sentiment survey from Wealth Management Real Estate and National Investment Center for Seniors Housing.
