The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (“MACRA”) establishes a new Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (“MIPS”) for MIPS eligible clinicians and groups under the Medicare physician fee schedule. In addition, MACRA provides financial incentives for clinician participation in certain alternative payment models. As a cornerstone of Medicare's transition from volume to value, MACRA will drive major changes in the delivery of health care services and make clinicians more accountable for the health of their patients.
