McKight’s points to a recent study that suggests nursing uniforms laundered at home have not been adequately sanitized.  The study from the University College in London found residential washing machines only heated water to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, leaving substantial amounts of bacteria behind. Providers Face Greater Risk of Claim Denial Under New PPS Rules

CMS Proposes Regulation Limiting the Ability of LTC Pharmacists to Consult Facilities

CMS Interpretive Guideline Changes on Use of Feeding Tubes

CMS Provides Guidance for Nursing Facility Gardens

CMS released a Survey & Certification letter today providing guidance for nursing homes that desire to utilize on-site gardens to provide fresh produce for residents. NLRB Releases Specialty Healthcare Decision

In a 3-1 decision released yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) decided the Specialty Healthcare case favoring the ability of small units of employees to unionize.  Overruling the established Park Manor standard, the NLRB ruled that just the 53 CNAs at a nursing facility could organize as one collective bargaining unit.   READ MORE
